To provide financial assistance for African-American students who are active in community service. | |

| Qualifications:
Applicants must be active, paid members of NABSW; must be students who
have a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; must be African-American
students with demonstrated community service; must be students who will
conduct research of interest to the black community; and must be
undergraduate or graduate students enrolled for full-time study at an
accredited US social work program in the semester that the award will be
granted. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement; community service; and financial need. | |
| Funds:
$2,000. Number of Awards: 2. To Apply: Applicants must submit a purpose letter (two to three pages, double-spaced, and typewritten) which must include the following: professional interests, future social work aspirations, previous social work experiences, honors and achievements, research interests within the black community; must submit two letters of recommendation, preferably by a professor, field instructor, or a prestigious community-based leader; financial need statement with a breakdown of students' assets and liabilities; and an official academic transcript from the school. Deadline: December 31. | |
