	Purpose: To provide financial assistance for individuals completing graduate work and to develop professional skills and talent to work in the African-American community.
	Focus: Social work.
	Qualifications: Applicants must be African-American students who have a 2.5 GPA on 4.0 scale; must express research interest in the black community; and must be undergraduate or graduate students enrolled for full-time study at an accredited US graduate social work program in the semester that the award will be granted. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement; community service; and financial need.
	Funds: $1,000. Number of Awards: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a purpose letter (two to three pages, double-spaced, typewritten) which must include the following: professional interests, future social work aspirations, previous social work experiences, honors and achievements, research interests within the black community; must submit two letters of recommendation, preferably by a professor, field instructor, or a prestigious community-based leader; financial need statement with a breakdown of students' assets and liabilities; and an official academic transcript from the school. Deadline: December 16.
